Freight Coordinator - Domestic FTL ​/ LTL ​/ Hot Shot

Altius Talent is recruiting a Domestic Freight Operations Agent for a specialist freight forwarder in San Diego.

The operation handles complex, time-critical and high-value freight, with a strong focus on domestic airfreight, medical devices and tradeshow shipments. This is not a customs brokerage or international forwarding position.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Coordinate time-critical domestic air and ground shipments from collection through delivery.
• Select the most appropriate routing based on urgency, cost, cargo requirements and service expectations.
• Arrange next-flight-out, scheduled air, expedited ground, hot-shot, LTL, FTL and local cartage services.
• Manage sensitive, high-value and specialist cargo.
• Coordinate tradeshow and medical-device shipments requiring strict deadlines and detailed communication.
• Secure carrier capacity and issue clear collection and delivery instructions.
• Track every milestone and respond immediately when a shipment moves off plan.
• Provide customers with proactive updates rather than waiting to be chased.
• Obtain rates, prepare quotations and monitor shipment costs.
• Confirm proof of delivery, complete billing and maintain accurate operational records.

What you’ll need

• Recent domestic freight forwarding, expedited logistics or 3PL operations experience.
• Strong knowledge of domestic airfreight and time-critical transportation.
• Experience coordinating urgent or high-value shipments.
• Familiarity with LTL, FTL, local delivery and expedited ground services.
• Tradeshow, event logistics or medical-device experience would be particularly valuable.
• A calm, solutions-focused approach when deadlines change or problems arise.
• Strong customer service, organization and attention to detail.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

This role is best suited to an operator who enjoys complex freight, takes personal ownership and understands that customers need accurate answers quickly.
