Store Assistant Manager Job Description

Job Duties:

• Operate all equipment.
• Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk‑in cooler.
• Prepare product.
• Receive and process telephone orders.
• Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
• Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
• Deliver product by car to the customer's door; deliver flyers and door hangers.
• Travel between the store and the delivery vehicle and from the vehicle to the customer’s location.

Requires:

• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record meeting company standards.
• Access to an insured vehicle usable for delivery.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Open availability.

Training: Orientation and on‑the‑job training provided.

Communication

Skills:

• Comprehend and give correct written instructions.
• Communicate verbally with customers and co‑workers to process orders over the phone and in person.
• Train and lead team members.

Essential Functions /

Skills:

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (calculator may be used).
• Make correct monetary change.
• Possess verbal, written, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
• Maintain motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers for rapid and accurate movements.
• Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
• Maintain cost controls.

Navigational

Skills:

• Read maps and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
• Navigate adverse terrain, multi‑story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites while carrying product.

Employees may be exposed to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions while removing trash and performing other outside tasks. In‑store temperatures range from 36 °F in the cooler to 90 °F or higher in some work areas. Sudden temperature changes may occur. Fumes from food odors and exposure to cornmeal dust are common. Workers may work in cramped quarters, such as walk‑in coolers.

Hot surfaces/tools can reach temperatures up to 500 °F or higher. Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts pose risks.

Typical tasks involve standing, walking on ceramic tile or linoleum, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, and handling heavy items up to 50 lb. Deliveries involve lifting, carrying, and transporting trays of pizza dough, sauces, and pizzas. Driving duties include delivering pizzas within a designated area, often making several deliveries per shift.
