Distribution Courier
Under indirect supervision, independently picks up and delivers a variety of material between Kaiser Permanente facilities and other locations throughout San Diego County. Sorts mail, charts, etc. and delivers to individual departments at each facility. Assumes responsibility for routine maintenance on vehicle and ensures cleanliness is maintained.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Deliver and pick-up items such as inter-office and U.S. mail, medical office records, x-ray films, pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens, boxes and equipment between Kaiser Hospital, medical offices, ancillary/administrative offices and community locations using company motor vehicles. May transport patients between the Vandever Clinic and Kaiser Hospital in a safe manner for their appointments.
Sort and organize all materials to be delivered on assigned runs. Courier must become knowledgeable within training period of physical locations, departments and personnel as they need to pick up and deliver to individual departments within the Clinic. Maintains assigned motor vehicle in good and safe operating condition. Monitors driving condition and appearance of company vehicles. Reports any and all possible vehicle problems and malfunctions to senior/supervisor.
Performs preventive maintenance practices on a regular basis. Schedules periodic routine servicing through senior/supervisor. Keeps inside of vehicle clean and free to trash. Is aware of the name of the company's automobile insurance carrier. Periodically checks to make sure the insurance identification card and accident report forms are in the glove compartment of company vehicle. Reviews accident report form before being involved in an accident and follows what-to-do-after-an-accident instructions on accident report form.
Relates to others, including patients, in a kind, tactful and diplomatic manner. Projects a positive image as a representative of Kaiser Permanente. Answer and respond to incoming phone calls in a manner consistent with quality of service standards. Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to, adding special stops to prescribed runs; attending department and company meetings and in services;
making special runs separate from the prescribed runs; following the service request procedure; post U.S. mail; special projects as required. KP Service Standards:

Basic Qualifications:
- DMV printout required. Ability to lift and transport at least 50 pounds.
