Warehouse Worker

Position Summary

San Diego State University, Department of Logistical Services, seeks a dependable and detail-oriented Warehouse Worker to support campus-wide receiving, shipping, distribution, and inventory activities. This role ensures accurate handling of materials, equipment, and mail while maintaining efficient warehouse operations and supporting university property management processes.

• Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments; verify deliveries against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
• Prepare, pack, and ship materials through common carriers, providing pickup and delivery services across campus.
• Operate material handling equipment and university vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, and mail safely and efficiently.
• Maintain warehouse inventory, equipment records, surplus property documentation, and accurate asset tracking using barcode and identification systems.
• Ensure a clean, organized warehouse and assist with mail distribution, surplus removal, and property management activities.

• Working knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in receiving, storing, packing, and shipping materials and supplies; general knowledge of inventory methods.
• Ability to match names and numbers quickly and accurately; keep simple records and make simple reports.
• Perform simple mathematical calculations; operate powered materials handling equipment.
• Apply safe methods of moving heavy supplies and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds with or without assistance.
• High school diploma, technical/vocational program, or equivalent combined with several years of related work experience is preferred.
• Forklift operation certificate preferred.
• CA Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

• Full-time (1.0 time base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
• Non-exempt under FLSA; eligible for overtime compensation.
• Standard SDSU work hours:
  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (may vary based on operational needs).
• Location:
  
  On campus at SDSU, San Diego.

• Step placement based on qualifications and experience; initial step placement not expected to exceed Step 5 ($3,747 / month).
• Internal applicants: step placement follows the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Salary range: $3,461 – $4,752 per month (Step 1 – Step 17).
• Future increases and step advancements are subject to contract negotiations.
