Responsibilities

Each individual performs only those waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by California Business & Professions Code (Sections §1206.5(a)(b)(c), §1261, §1210, §1269, §1260.3, 17 CFR 1031(b)(1-5), 17 CFR 1032.5) and must possess a degree of skill commensurate with their education, training, or experience and technical abilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
  • Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
  • Identify problems affecting test performance and correct or report them immediately.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods across disciplines such as Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Immunology.
  • Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as needed.
  • Review the accuracy of patient results prior to reporting.
  • Recognize age-specific differences in expected results from newborns to geriatrics.
  • Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples and collaborate with other laboratories only after reporting proficiency results.
  • Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups if required.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources policies.
  • May be assigned as General Supervisor or responsibilities related to LIS and/or POC.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the department manager/director.
  • Qualifications
    • Requires two years of clinical laboratory experience covering all laboratory areas.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements per California Code of Registration, Title 17, Section 1032, Clinical Laboratory Scientist (generalist).
    • Current and valid California State License required.
    Pay Transparency

    The compensation estimate for this role is $54.33 per hour. The final offer will consider skills, experience, education, and credentials.
