ThePosition
Correctional Services Clinician – responsible for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of seriously mentally ill inmates in a correctional facility. Clinicians conduct individual and group therapy using evidence‑based techniques, maintain accurate documentation per agency and county procedures, and collaborate with facility staff.
Compensation & BenefitsPay range: $82,000 – $90,000 annually, based on experience.

- Valid registration or licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, AMFT, LCSW, LMFT, APCC, LPCC)
- Prior experience with severely and persistently mentally ill patients
- Preferred experience with justice‑involved/forensic populations
- Prior experience with the Department of Mental Health (DMH) preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills highly preferred
- Proficiency in word processing
- Excellent writing skills
- General office skills
- Typing speed of 50 words per minute (WPM)
- Must pass a pre‑employment physical exam, TB, and drug screening
- Ability to commute to various sites on campus and correctional facilities
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and lift 10 pounds
- Complete DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Index background checks
- Insurability under corporate automobile insurance
- Assessment and Coordination:
- Conduct at least five one‑hour group therapy sessions daily for seriously mentally ill inmates
- Conduct individual assessments to identify service needs
- Coordinate and lead structured programming (life skills, coping, problem‑solving, interpersonal relationships)
- Use evidence‑based techniques to facilitate discussion, self‑reflection, and positive behavior change
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
- Documentation and Records:
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records in the county’s EMR system
- Use county documentation tools and procedures for charting
- Complete required documentation timely and in compliance with contractual and regulatory standards
- Allocate at least 3 hours per eight‑hour day to documentation and charting
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with the facility’s project manager and existing mental health providers
- Participate in regular interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment objectives and progress
- Professional Development:
- Attend required supervision, department, and agency meetings
- Pursue ongoing professional skill development
- Attend agency training and participate in the CQI plan as assigned
- Schedule and Availability:
- Program operates seven days a week, 8 am to 8 pm, including county‑observed holidays; clinician must work evenings, weekends, and holidays
