Position OverviewThe Pressman Feeder & Bindery Operator supports the printing production process by assisting press operators, preparing materials, operating finishing equipment, and ensuring high‑quality output. This role is essential to maintaining efficient workflow, meeting production deadlines, and delivering accurate, well‑finished printed products.
Key Responsibilities Press Feeder Duties- Set up, load, and maintain paper stock for offset or digital printing presses.
- Assist the press operator with make‑ready, plate changes, ink adjustments, and press cleanup.
- Monitor paper flow, alignment, and quality throughout the press run.
- Inspect printed sheets for color consistency, registration, and defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized press area to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Operate bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, stitchers, collators, drills, shrink‑wrappers, and scoring/perforating machines.
- Set up machines for specific job requirements, including size, fold type, trim, and finishing specifications.
- Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, alignment, and proper finishing.
- Package, label, and prepare completed jobs for shipping or delivery.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and perform routine maintenance on bindery equipment.
- Experience working in a print shop, pressroom, or bindery environment preferred.
- Familiarity with offset or digital printing processes.
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow job tickets, production schedules, and safety procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment.
- Knowledge of paper types, weights, and grain direction.
- Understanding of finishing techniques (folding, trimming, stitching, padding, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Time‑management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Fast‑paced production setting with exposure to machinery, ink, paper dust, and noise.
- Requires adherence to safety protocols and use of protective equipment.
$22-25 per hour (based on experience)
Work Week Hours- 32-40 hours per week based on business volume.
- Monday – Friday (6:00-2:30)
