Job DescriptionThe Disaster Case Management (DCM) Case Manager Assistant plays a client-facing role, working directly with disaster-affected individuals and families to support information gathering, documentation, and ongoing communication. The primary focus of this position is client engagement and accurate data collection, ensuring each household’s situation, needs, and progress are clearly documented to support effective recovery planning.
This role reflects Tzu Chi’s commitment to compassionate accompaniment, respect, and long-term recovery.
- Communicate directly with clients by phone, email, or in person under Case Manager supervision
- Explain program processes, required documentation, and next steps clearly and respectfully
- Conduct follow-up outreach to gather missing information or clarify client needs
- Build rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Collect and verify client information, including household composition,housing status, income, and recovery needs
- Assist clients in submitting required documents (IDs, leases, utility bills, receipts, etc.)
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate client data in Tzu Chi’s case management system
- Track case progress, outstanding items, and follow-up timelines
- Prepare case summaries and documentation for Case Manager review
- Flag urgent needs or concerns to the Case Manager or DCM Supervisor
- Support recovery plan development through organized and timely data gathering
- High school diploma required; college coursework in social work, human services, public health, or related fields preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Basic computer proficiency (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, databases)
