Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk, Tax Accountant
Some bookkeeping roles are written as if the job is simply entering data and reconciling accounts. Anyone who’s worked inside a CPA firm knows it’s more nuanced than that. In public accounting, bookkeeping sets the tone for everything that follows. When it’s done properly, tax season runs smoother, clients stay calmer, and problems get solved before they grow legs.
This San Francisco CPA firm understands that.
They’re looking for a bookkeeper who already has experience working within a CPA firm environment, ideally at least three years. The pace, deadlines, and client expectations are different in public accounting, and they want someone who’s comfortable in that setting from day one.
You’ll work closely with accountants and tax professionals, supporting a portfolio of clients where your work directly feeds into tax and advisory services. Yes, you’ll handle reconciliations, month‑end close, and financial reporting. But the real value lies in your judgment, your consistency, and your ability to notice when something doesn’t quite add up.
This is a hybrid role with intention. Time in the office is collaborative and purposeful. Time working remotely is focused and trusted.
Why this role makes sense:- Hybrid flexibility with a San Francisco–based CPA firm
- Salary range of $50,000–$80,000 depending on experience
- Work that is integrated into the broader accounting and tax process
- Exposure to a range of clients without unnecessary fire drills
- A professional environment that values accuracy and sound judgment
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience within a CPA firm
- Comfortable managing multiple clients and firm‑driven deadlines
- Strong reconciliation skills and pride in keeping books clean
- Someone who understands how bookkeeping supports tax and financial reporting
This isn’t about processing transactions. It’s about being the person who keeps the foundation solid so everything else works as it should.
