Hood & Strong, a San Francisco Bay Area-based CPA firm, is seeking an Experienced Staff Auditor to join our growing Audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands‑on experience across a diverse client base while working alongside talented, collaborative colleagues.
In this role, you will contribute to audit engagements from planning through completion, develop technical expertise, and build strong client relationships. We offer a dynamic and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and provides meaningful exposure to a variety of industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the planning and execution of audit engagements
- Perform audit testing and substantive procedures
- Prepare and review work papers and financial statements
- Communicate findings and recommendations to senior team members
- Maintain compliance with firm policies and professional standards
- 1–2 years of recent public accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exam (CPA progress preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with accounting software and audit technology tools
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Motivated to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility
- Ability to travel as needed (primarily local, with occasional out‑of‑area travel)
Compensation range for Greater Bay Area – $70,000 – $83,000 annually.
This is the typical range of pay for the position in this location; however, actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, skills, qualifications, and business needs.
