Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Francisco, California. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to improving processes.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.

- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition guidelines under ASC 606 and lease accounting standards under ASC 842.

- Conduct detailed account reconciliations and variance analyses to identify and explain discrepancies.

- Review and analyze customer contracts to ensure proper revenue treatment in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including capitalization and depreciation.

- Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, to support accurate financial reporting.

- Assist with audit preparations by compiling relevant schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.

- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within accounting functions.

- Collaborate on special projects, such as system integrations and enhancements, to streamline operations.

- Monitor compliance with internal controls and accounting policies to ensure accuracy and completeness. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on technical accounting.

- Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 and ASC 842 standards.

- Proficiency in managing fixed assets, lease accounting, accruals, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations.

- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations independently.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

- Familiarity with month-end close processes, journal entries, and variance analysis.
