Overview
M&A Accounting Consultant (Sr. Manager) – Our client, a high-growth artificial intelligence technology company, is seeking an M&A Accounting Consultant (Senior Manager level) to support core accounting operations during a period of rapid expansion. This role is hybrid, with in-office expectations Monday through Wednesday in San Francisco, CA. This engagement has an expected duration of 6 months, with the possibility for extension.
Responsibilities- Manage end-to-end month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity and provide explanations for period-over-period changes across complex accounts.
- Support accounting for fixed assets, prepaids, cash, accruals, intercompany transactions, foreign currency, and equity-related entries.
- Partner with FP&A to support analysis and reporting of actuals versus budget.
- Collaborate with business systems teams on Oracle Cloud workflows, integrations, and process improvements.
- Support implementation and adoption of reconciliation and close-management tools (e.g., ARCS).
- Assist with consolidation and close processes within Oracle financial systems.
- Support accounting for acquisitions, including chart-of-accounts mapping, historical cleanup, and integration of acquired entities.
- Contribute to system migrations, new business launches, and evolving accounting requirements.
- Perform payroll accounting tasks such as bonuses, clawbacks, and amortization schedules.
- Assist with lease accounting under ASC 842, including entries and disclosures.
- Help design, document, and maintain SOX-ready internal controls.
- Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits.
- Review the work of others when necessary while maintaining a hands-on execution mindset.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of complex accounting areas.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge under U.S. GAAP, with the ability to navigate ambiguous issues.
- Experience in M&A accounting, integration, or carve-outs.
- Proficiency with Oracle Cloud / Oracle Fusion.
- CPA and/or Big 4 experience strongly preferred.
