Assistant Fund Controller | Investment Management | San Francisco | Hybrid | Strong Base + Generous Bonus + Carry!!

A rapidly growing investment management firm focused on private markets and alternative investments is expanding its finance team following a period of strong success and continued scale.

This is a high-visibility role within a smart, high-performing team where you'll have real ownership and the opportunity to build, improve, and shape how things are done. The environment is fast-moving, and the team is known for being sharp, collaborative, and execution-focused.

You'll work closely with leadership across complex fund structures, institutional investors, and full-cycle fund operations, gaining exposure well beyond traditional fund accounting. The role offers meaningful responsibility, strong long-term growth, and the chance to step into a platform that is actively expanding.

Responsibilities

+ Lead fund accounting and financial reporting across alternative investment structures

+ Oversee NAV reporting, capital activity, allocations, and investor reporting

+ Coordinate audits, K-1 processes, and fund-level reporting

+ Partner with fund administrators and external providers to ensure accurate reporting

+ Support accounting across complex multi-entity structures

+ Improve reporting processes, controls, and workflows

+ Collaborate with finance, legal, operations, and investment teams

Requirements

+ 8-13+ years of Private Equity, Venture Capital, Investment Management Experience (Public accounting/fund admin/ in house)

+ Strong fund accounting, financial reporting, and investor reporting experience

+

Experience with partnership tax reporting, K-1 coordination, and alternative investments

+ Ability to manage audits and work with external providers

+ Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

+ Strong communication and organizational skills

+ CPA preferred, not required
