Construction Project Accountant / Senior Project Accountant

Building Talent partners with commercial and industrial construction firms across California on ongoing and upcoming Project Accountant and Senior Project Accountant needs. This posting reflects the types of roles we regularly support as firms grow, projects scale, and accounting teams expand.

This work focuses on commercial and industrial construction projects — including healthcare, higher education, infrastructure, manufacturing, and mission-critical environments. It does not include residential or single-family construction.

We're connecting with Project Accountants who have direct contractor-side experience and are comfortable managing the financial side of projects from setup through closeout. Depending on the role, this can range from hands-on project accounting to broader ownership across multiple jobs.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Project setup, budgets, job cost tracking, and financial reporting
• Billing, A/R, and collections
• Vendor, subcontractor, and consultant invoicing
• Contract, change order, and cost control support
• Ongoing coordination with Project Managers and operations teams

Common systems we see:

• Sage 300 CRE / Timberline, Viewpoint Vista or Spectrum
• CMiC, Procore, or similar tools
• Advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas; Power Query a plus)

Backgrounds that tend to align well:

• Project accounting experience within commercial or industrial construction
• Experience supporting larger-scale or multi-phase projects
• Ability to manage multiple jobs at once
• Detail-oriented and comfortable working closely with PMs and operations
