RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for multiple properties and entities
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations and cash activity reports
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including vendor payments and tenant billings
- Review property operating statements and investigate variances
- Track and reconcile tenant security deposits and reserve accounts
- Assist with CAM reconciliations and tenant recoveries, as applicable
- Support audits, tax preparation, and lender reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls
- Collaborate with property management and operations teams to resolve accounting issues
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- Work with outsourced accounting team as it relates to month-end close of self-managed properties and accounting systems.
- Assist Controller with end‑of‑year reconciliations and audit support work papers.
- Prepare policy and procedures as needed
- Assist Controller with banking operations.
- Assist Controller with certain budget and forecast‑related tasks (e.g., debt service)
- Proactive with solving departments problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, from a four‑year college or university.
- 3+ years of accounting experience; real estate or property management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Experience with property management or accounting software (Yardi preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
