An esteemed and stable San Francisco nonprofit organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its collaborative Finance and Accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, you will take ownership of key accounts payable and general accounting functions while contributing to month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and special projects.
Responsibilities in this important role include:- Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, corporate credit card expenses, employee reimbursements, W 9s, and annual 1099 processing
- Prepare journal entries for monthly expenses, prepayments, and accruals and assist with a timely and accurate month-end close
- Perform monthly AP and general ledger account reconciliations and maintain accurate supporting documentation
- Support annual financial and tax audits, including preparing requested documentation and working with external auditors
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of successful accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization
- Knowledge of GAAP and strong accounting fundamentals
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with enterprise accounting software
- Net Suite experience is a strong plus
- Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills with strong attention to detail
