The Manager / Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting will lead complex accounting analyses, support high-quality financial reporting, and help build scalable accounting processes across Grub Market’s rapidly growing food technology, eCommerce, distribution, and software businesses. This role will serve as a trusted technical accounting partner to Corporate Development, Accounting Operations, FP&A, Legal, Tax, and acquired business-unit finance teams. The successful candidate will combine strong U.S. GAAP expertise with practical judgment, a collaborative operating style, and the ability to translate complex accounting conclusions into clear, audit-defensible documentation and actionable guidance.
JobExpectations & Responsibilities Technical Accounting, M&A & Accounting Policy
- Business Combinations:
Lead technical accounting assessments for acquisitions and other strategic transactions under ASC 805, including acquisition-date accounting, consideration transferred, working-capital adjustments, contingent consideration, measurement-period items, goodwill, intangible assets, transaction costs, and related financial reporting. - Purchase Accounting & Integration:
Partner with Corporate Development, external valuation specialists, external auditors, and acquired-company finance teams to coordinate purchase accounting, opening balance sheet procedures, and post-close accounting integration. - Technical Research & Memos:
Research, analyze, and document accounting positions for complex and non-routine transactions. Prepare and review clear technical accounting memoranda that identify the relevant facts, authoritative guidance, alternatives considered, analysis, and conclusions. - Policy Development:
Develop, maintain, and operationalize accounting policies and practical guidance that promote consistent application of U.S. GAAP across corporate and acquired entities.
- Revenue Recognition:
Lead ASC 606 analyses across Grub Market’s B2B eCommerce, distribution, marketplace, SaaS, implementation, and other technology-enabled offerings. Assess performance obligations, principal-versus-agent conclusions, variable consideration, rebates and incentives, contract modifications, and contract costs. - Cross-Functional Commercial Support:
Partner with Sales, Product, Legal, Operations, and Billing to evaluate the accounting implications of new products, customer contracts, pricing arrangements, and business-model changes before execution. - Lease Accounting:
Own or oversee lease accounting under ASC 842, including contract review, lease identification, embedded leases, modifications, renewals, impairments, short-term lease elections, and financial statement disclosures. - Other Complex Areas:
Support analyses in other technical areas as needed, including inventory, stock-based compensation, debt and financing transactions, consolidation, foreign currency, impairment, and new accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting:
Lead or review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting schedules and U.S. GAAP footnote disclosures, including acquisition accounting, revenue, leases, and other technical-accounting areas. - Close & Analytics:
Partner with Corporate Accounting to support the close process, review key account reconciliations and journal entries, and perform meaningful fluctuation analyses of complex or high-risk accounts. - Audit Partnership:
Serve as a primary technical accounting contact for external auditors. Manage technical inquiries, prepare audit-ready work papers and PBC support, and drive timely resolution of complex accounting matters. - Internal Controls & Readiness:
Help strengthen documentation, controls, and reporting processes; identify control gaps and partner with Accounting, Internal Audit, and Finance leadership on practical remediation and future SOX-readiness initiatives.
