Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations in San Francisco, California. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheet and cash-related accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage fixed assets, CIP accounts, depreciation, capital projects, and asset reconciliations.

+ Apply GAAP and capitalization policies for asset accounting and reporting.

+ Track project costs, asset transfers, disposals, write-offs, and inventory activities.

+ Perform fund and foundation accounting, including grants, donations, endowments, and restricted funds.

+ Allocate investment income and ensure compliance with donor requirements and accounting standards.

+ Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, financial analyses, and month-end/year-end close activities.

+ Support audits, regulatory filings, Form 990 reporting, and capital expenditure reviews.

+ Improve processes, internal controls, reporting systems, and accounting procedures.

+ Provide accounting guidance and assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

+ Required experience with nonprofit fund/grant accounting.

+ Strong knowledge of restricted vs. unrestricted funds, donor-restricted revenue, and fund release requirements.

+ Fixed asset accounting background preferred
