Job Description: With excellent analytical skills, the primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant will be the financial management and reporting for the company working closely with the management team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and timely and provide guidance to the management team on all accounting and finance related items. With excellent accounting and management skills, the Staff Accountant will work with team members to ensure both revenue and expenditures are in line with the budget on a monthly basis.
Additional responsibilities for the Staff Accountant include the following:
- Review of monthly financial statements from third party property management including GL reconciliation and investigating account discrepancies
- Compiling financial data from the properties and consolidating them to Fund financials
- Record Fund-level transactions including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, etc.
- Prepare quarterly investor distributions
- Maintain fund general ledgers and perform quarter-end close
- Assist in annual financial statement audits for the Funds, including compiling requested financial data, preparing supporting schedules for the auditors, etc.
- Assist in providing the tax accountant with year-end financial data including YTD general ledgers, trial balances, investor capital calls and distributions, etc.
- Assist with lender compliance requirements
- Review Fund tax returns and investor K-1s
- Maintain partnership books, general ledgers, and cost allocation across multiple partnership entities
- 2- 3 years of previous accounting experience in commercial real estate with increasing responsibilities.
- Knowledge of general accounting and financing principles and in GAAP and FASB.
- Extensive knowledge of account payables, receivables, budgets, and expenditure control is also required.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Yardi, MRI, Timberline, or other commercial real estate software programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and relevant work experience.
