Job Summary
Uses advanced administrative concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Under minimal direction, manages, plans, administers, and coordinates strategic administrative operations for the Department of Neurological Surgery, with a primary focus on awards and recognition, engagement and wellness programs, events management, and institutional reporting. Regularly performs short- and long-term planning, analyzes complex data sets, and exercises judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria.
Erroneous decisions may result in significant operational, financial, or reputational impact to the department.

Job DetailsThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $78,900 - $167,300 (Annual Rate).

Department DescriptionThe Department of Neurological Surgery is a complex academic and clinical department within UCSF, encompassing faculty, staff, researchers, trainees, and learners across multiple mission areas. The department is committed to excellence in patient care, education, research, and community engagement, and prioritizes recognition, wellness, and professional development to support recruitment, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in related area and 3+ years of related work experience; and / or equivalent experience / training
- Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines
- Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees
- Skills in strategic planning, problem
-solving, and managing competing priorities - Thorough analytical, data management, and reporting skills
- Experience supporting faculty governance, awards programs, or institutional surveys
