Office Administrator

The Buddhist Church of San Francisco (BCSF), a historic religious, cultural, and educational center in San Francisco’s Japantown, announces an opening for Office Administrator.

This position will begin at 15 –20 hours per week, with the potential to grow to 35 hours per week over time for a strong fit who performs well. Compensation is $25–$27 per hour.

The work schedule includes Sundays and occasional Saturdays and/or evenings with advance notice, depending on scheduling needs. The weekday schedule will be determined collaboratively by the employee and supervisor.

The Office Administrator plays a central role in supporting temple operations, communications, religious programs, and community engagement. This position requires a proactive, organized individual with strong computer, managerial, communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal), and administrative skills who can work both collaboratively and independently. The Office Administrator will coordinate with clergy, the Board of Directors, and volunteers to serve the evolving needs of a vibrant nonprofit religious organization in San Francisco’s Japantown.

Social media skills are a plus.

Prior knowledge or practice of Buddhism is a plus but not required.
