The Department of Justice, Legal Support Operations Mailroom, San Francisco, is currently seeking a well-rounded, friendly individual to fill our Office Assistant (General) position.
Under the general supervision of the Business Services Officer I, the office assistant (OA) will distribute incoming mail, collect outgoing mail, affix postage stamps, and deposit mail at correct sites. The OA may also process courier mail from other Attorney General's Offices statewide, perform office mail deliveries, and inside mail runs. The OA will utilize various computer-based databases to accurately input information for incoming and outgoing mail, may be responsible for maintaining and operating complex mailroom equipment.
The OA may also Collect all USPS mail at the loading dock, prepare outgoing mail for shipment, and operate tracking devices to ensure delivery and accountability of all incoming deliveries. The OA uses interpersonal skills to provide back up support to the primary public information, referral, and reception desk that services the entire office. This includes, but is not limited to, answering phone calls, greeting in-person visitors, and providing information on the DOJ's services and programs.
