- JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Procurement Category Manager serves to maximize value and reduce risk for a defined group of goods or services by strategically managing how Pattern Energy buys them. Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost, quality, supply continuity, and supplier performance while aligning procurement decisions with Pattern Energy’s business objectives. Focus initially on developing Pattern Energy’s Legal Services category strategy.
This role does not have direct reports. - Key Accountabilities:
- Development of Multi-year Category Strategies and Value Creation
- Spend & Demand Management for assigned categories
- Strategic Sourcing (RFP, RFQ, RFI) and contracting for assigned categories
- Vendor Sourcing Recommendations including identification of best value and lowest total cost of ownership principles
- Supplier Performance and Relationship Management for assigned categories
- Vendor Risk Mitigation for assigned categories
- Stakeholder Partnership and Management for assigned categories
- Savings Realization for assigned categories
- Continuous Improvement and Optimization of Category Strategy and Procurement Processes
- Conflict Resolution and Decision Facilitation with Key stakeholders on assigned categories
- Educational Requirements — Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field or 10+ years of equivalent experience
- Required Work Experience
- 7-10+ Years of experience in a strategic procurement, sourcing, or category management role
- Experience developing RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
- Strong Financial Acumen; able to validate savings with finance
- Excellent supplier relationship management experience
- Experience developing basic cost models and vendor benchmarking initiatives
- Exceptional strategy development skills
- Experience negotiating multi–year professional service contracts
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities;
Able to influence without authority - Demonstrated experience as a change leader
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Demonstrated experience leading or influencing enterprise process improvements
- Preferred Experience
- Experience working in Energy (Renewable Energy, Independent Power Producer, Utility, and/or Oil & Gas)
- Prior experience in the following spend categories:
Legal Services, Environmental Services, Construction Management, Engineering Services, Land Acquisition Services, and Land Surveying Services - Experience with Oracle Cloud Fusion
- Prior experience in a start up environment is a plus
- CIPS, CPSM, or ISM is a plus
- Prior experience influencing budgets is a plus
The expected starting pay range for this role is $118,000 - $150,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance program, paid time off and bonding leave, paid holidays, 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contribution, and employee referral bonuses.
