National non-profit membership organization seeks Board Governance Associate to manage operations for eight affiliated boards. This role serves as the central liaison for board activity, overseeing approximately 40 board meetings annually and ensuring meetings are well prepared, well documented, and aligned with each entity’s overall mission and governance standards.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, anticipatory, and intellectually curious—someone who develops a working understanding of each board’s purpose and priorities, who assumes ownership for all attendant schedules and materials and ensures nothing falls through the cracks.

Requirements
  • BA or BS from competitive US college or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting complex administrative, governance, or business operations
  • Experience working closely with senior executives and boards
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point with the ability to quickly learn new tools
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities within a multi-entity organization
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable operating beyond rigid job boundaries
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism
Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary liaison for board operations across multiple entities
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate 36–40 board meetings annually
  • Develop, draft, and maintain detailed meeting agendas in partnership with executives and board chairs
  • Coordinate preparation, organization, and distribution of board materials and digital board books
  • Draft and organize presentations and supporting materials for board review
  • Attend select board meetings to support flow, capture key discussion points, and ensure follow-up
  • Ensure materials presented outside formal board books are properly documented and archived
  • Manage approval workflows and archival processes for meeting minutes in accordance with governance standards
  • Act as point of contact for board members, supporting preparation, attendance, and engagement
  • Coordinate board appointments, onboarding, orientation, and governance training
  • Manage meeting logistics and travel coordination as required
