Position: Business Operations Contractor, Incubations (contract)

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in more than 100, 000 cities and towns located in 220+ countries and regions across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and one-of-a-kind activities that make it possible for guests to experience the world in a more authentic, connected way.

Airbnb was born with a creative spirit, and it’s one of the most defining parts of our culture. We use our curiosity and imagination to come up with unconventional solutions. These are the ideas at the core of Airbnb:

  • Our community is based on connection and belonging.
  • Our creativity allows us to imagine new possibilities for people.
  • Our responsibility is to all of our stakeholders.
  • It takes a unified team committed to our core values to embody these ideas, and our fast-moving team is committed to leading as a 21st century company

This role is SF-preferred and on-site, but we’re open to US-based candidates for the right person. This role is not eligible for relocation support. As a Business Operations Contractor, you are the person who gets our early tests into the real world. You’ll help own the thesis, and more importantly, you’ll make it happen on the ground. That means getting pilots into the market, doing the fieldwork, and being in the room when we run a test for the first time.

You move fast with whatever’s available and you’re comfortable doing work that doesn’t scale yet, because that’s how we learn. Our ideas are only as good as our ability to put them in front of real customers.

A typical day:
  • Get pilots into market: own the logistics that turn a concept into a live test — sourcing partners, scheduling, locations, and the details no one else is tracking.
  • Do the fieldwork: show up in person where the test happens — a home, a market, a partner site — and do the hands-on work to make it real.
  • Keep the trains running: track tasks, dates, and open items across several tests at once so nothing slips, and flag blockers early.
  • Capture what we learn: write up customer conversations and pilot results clearly enough that the team can make a fast call on what to scale and what to kill.
Example deliverables includes:
  • Recruit: for a 12-month rental test, recruit hosts in a target market and talk to landlords and tenants about their pain points and what we could solve.
  • Vet: for a “Reviewed by Airbnb” test, find a third-party inspection partner and run on-site training with them on how to inspect and review a home.
Your Expertise:
  • Scrappy and hands-on:
You move with the resources you have, not the ones you wish you had. No task is beneath you — you’ll cold-call a host, drive to a site, or build the tracker at midnight to keep a test moving.
  • Comfortable in the field:
You are comfortable going into market and working with the local team or contracts to get tests off the ground.
  • Bias to action:
You’d rather run a rough test this week than a perfect one next quarter, and you know when that trade-off is right.
  • Organized under ambiguity:
You juggle several half-defined projects at once, hold the details, and stay calm when the plan changes.
  • Open-minded and resourceful:
You find workarounds when the obvious path is blocked. You partner, borrow, and improvise to get to signal cheaply.
  • Clear communicator:
You write up what you learned plainly and fast, so others can act on it.

Experience: 6-10 years of exp., with a track record of getting things done in operations, growth, launch, consulting, or a startup with little structure. This is a contract role — we weight hustle and judgment as heavily as title or tenure.

Belonging & Accommodations:

Airbnb is committed to working with the best and brightest people from the broadest talent pool possible. We believe a diversity of ideas fosters innovation and engagement, and allows us to attract the best people, and to develop the best products, services and solutions. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. If you need assistance, or reasonable accommodation during the application and recruiting process, please connect with your talent sourcing partner.

Pay Rate Range: $56-$69/hr

Benefits:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K
