Job Overview
The HSE Specialist I is an entry‑level professional safety position. It is a field‑based role that supports the implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs by collaborating with internal teams, regulatory bodies, and customer representatives.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with internal teams, client representatives, regulatory agencies, and medical facilities to maintain effective working relationships.
- Support and promote the company’s safety program and local incident prevention initiatives to reduce risk behaviors.
- Assist in implementing project‑based safety programs aligned with strategic goals.
- Contribute to pre‑task planning and job site safety meetings.
- Help prepare and deliver safety meetings and training to enhance hazard awareness.
- Contribute to the development and review of job hazard analyses to identify risks and control measures.
- Support incident, near‑miss, and claim investigations and communications.
- Maintain working knowledge of company HSE standards, programs, and objectives.
- Promote HSE goals across projects to ensure a safe and productive environment.
- Assist in developing routine HSE project plans and specifications.
- Provide input for audits, inspections, evaluations, and incident investigations.
- Maintain required reports and documentation to meet corporate and regulatory standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Acquisition of a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, and supporting administrative practices.
- Demonstrated time‑management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to develop analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Prioritizing and managing multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
- Interacting effectively and professionally with all levels of employees within regional business unit, both management and staff, vendors, clients, and others.
Minimum 4 years related experience, or a 4‑year related degree—or High School Diploma with minimum 4 years related experience. OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, STS‑C. Ability to spend 80% of working time on active construction sites. Travel up to 25% as needed.
Working ConditionsGeneral work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite. Occasional lifting of up to 30lbs. Work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements.
