About the team

At Turo, we’re reinventing rentals and re-establishing the car as an icon of independence and individual agency. We’re seeking an experienced, strategic leader to join our team as Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships. This role requires deep expertise across travel, technology, and adjacent industries, along with strong analytical rigor, strategic insight, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization and with external partners.

You will define and lead a comprehensive partnerships strategy, identifying, evaluating, and executing high-impact partnerships that drive growth, profitability, and a best-in-class guest experience. The ideal candidate is relentlessly focused on creating and scaling partnerships that expand Turo’s reach—growing our existing customer base, launching new acquisition channels, and strengthening our brand. You will own critical components of Turo’s business development roadmap and play a key role in shaping the future of mobility and car ownership. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity with significant opportunity for personal and professional growth.

  • Develop the overall strategy for building and scaling a portfolio of partnerships that expands Turo’s reach and drives profitable growth across new and existing partnership channels.

  • Identify, negotiate, and execute innovative partnerships with key strategic partners including structuring creative commercial frameworks and product solutions that drive measurable business impact.

  • Track, analyze, and optimize partnership performance; own reporting and business reviews with leadership, including metrics such as unit economics, ROAS, efficiency, incrementality, and financial performance.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, PR, Legal, and leadership to influence product roadmaps, support partner launches, and ensure successful ongoing partner integrations.

  • Develop and manage a team of Business Development & Partnership Managers while building scalable processes to support complex partnerships, integrations, and ongoing operational needs.

  • Serve as the primary internal advocate for partners and represent Turo externally with partner leadership teams and at industry events, ensuring strong executive relationships and alignment.

Your profile
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in business development, partnerships and/or strategy. Exceptional communication and presentation skills with strong executive presence.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field; or relevant work experience in business development or business management

  • Deep understanding and extensive experience developing partnerships with OTAs, credit card companies, airlines, hotels, travel aggregators, distribution partners and other potential Turo demand channels.

  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial, with the ability to pioneer new approaches while rigorously measuring outcomes.

  • Strong analytical capability, including experience defining, tracking, and evaluating ROI, incrementality, and partnership financial performance.

  • Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate effectively, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong data-driven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with sound judgment under pressure.

  • Demonstrates Turo’s values through work product and within day to day team interactions.
