Hours: Full‑time (Night shift 11 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., overtime, weekends and holiday work may be required)

Under supervision, the Asphalt Finisher spreads, rakes and finishes asphalt mixtures in connection with street maintenance and repair projects. Responsibilities include operating an asphalt kettle and tool heater; assisting in the clean‑up of the job site after asphaltic repairs; setting up job sites in a safe manner; and performing related duties as required.

• Spreads and rakes asphaltic mixtures
• Irons asphalt to obtain a compact and smooth surface.
• Prepares sub‑grades before paving.
• Assists in clean‑up of the job site after asphaltic repairs.
• Sets up job sites (including cones, barricades, high rails and signs) safely.
• Completes standard job reports.
• May operate the screed on an asphalt paver.
• Will be the grounds person on an asphalt milling machine.
• May operate an asphalt kettle and tool heater.

• Two (2) years of verifiable experience in street paving and repair work as an asphalt worker.
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

• Experience serving as a grounds person on high‑production road milling or asphalt grinding machinery.
• Experience operating heavy asphalt paving equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Volvo) on large‑scale commercial or civil projects.
