Position Summary

McMillan Electric is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support our safety program and help maintain a strong culture of safety throughout the organization. This position will work closely with the Safety Director, project teams, and field employees to ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about promoting workplace safety in a construction environment.

  • Assist with administration and implementation of company safety programs and procedures.
  • Coordinate employee safety training, certifications, and compliance tracking.
  • Conduct and document jobsite safety inspections and audits.
  • Support incident and accident investigations, including corrective action follow-up.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee communications.
  • Partner with project managers, supervisors, and field personnel to promote safe work practices.
  • Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Assist with the development and continuous improvement of safety programs and procedures.
  • Travel between project sites and respond promptly to safety-related issues as needed.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction safety, safety administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in construction or electrical contracting safety roles preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, Cal/OSHA requirements, and industry safety best practices.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and reporting skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • Experience delivering safety training, toolbox talks, or employee orientations.
  • Experience assisting with incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
