The Project Engineer is responsible for project documentation, RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management support, procurement tracking, schedule coordination, field reporting, and closeout. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to build a strong foundation in commercial construction project management.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
1–3 years of experience in commercial construction or a related field preferred.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Familiarity with document control, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project closeout processes.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work collaboratively with both office and field teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
Experience with Procore preferred.
Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Sage, or similar construction software is a plus.
Ability to work in both office and active construction site environments.
Job Duties Maintain project document control systems, including drawings, specifications, logs, and related project records.
Ensure project teams are working from the most current contract documents and revisions.
Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop a clear understanding of project scope and requirements.
Prepare, track, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).Create and maintain submittal logs and help manage the submittal process through review and distribution.
Review subcontractor submittals for completeness prior to design team review.
Distribute updated drawings, bulletins, sketches, and other project information to relevant stakeholders.
Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes, action items, and follow-up documentation.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to support daily project operations.
Assist with procurement tracking, long-lead item management, and delivery coordination.
Support project scheduling efforts, including short-term planning and trade coordination.
Perform regular site walks to document progress, identify issues, and stay informed on field conditions.
Assist with tracking field issues, punch list items, and project closeout requirements.
Support the preparation and tracking of potential change orders, change order requests, and backup documentation.
Assist with quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, and other project cost-related tasks as assigned.
Collect and organize closeout documents, including warranties, as-builts, and operation and maintenance manuals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
