Electrical Estimator

We are seeking a detail oriented Electrical Estimator who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and takes pride in producing precise, competitive, and well organized estimates.
Position SummaryThe Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. This role analyzes project requirements, interprets drawings and specifications, performs detailed takeoffs, and collaborates with project managers, vendors, and field teams to develop complete bid packages. Success requires strong technical understanding, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Review project plans, specifications, and addenda to understand scope and requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
- Develop labor and material pricing using historical data, vendor quotes, and production rates.
- Build and maintain accurate estimates using Accubid; support digital takeoff and markup using Bluebeam.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor pricing; maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Prepare complete bid packages including cost breakdowns, clarifications, and scope narratives.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure alignment between estimate and project execution.
- Participate in internal bid reviews and project hand off meetings.
- Track cost history and maintain organized documentation to support future bids and process improvements.
- Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and code changes that may impact cost assumptions.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Familiarity with national electrical codes and standard installation practices.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across teams and with external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PDF editing tools; experience with Bluebeam and Accubid preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Professional, responsive, and proactive in communication and follow through.
- Self driven with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training in construction, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of estimating experience in the electrical or construction industry preferred.
- Experience with estimating software such as Accubid strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with construction management tools such as Procore, Plan Grid, Revit, or CAD is a plus.
- Cost estimating utilizing the latest software from Accubid
- Lighting design, photometry, and Title 24 compliance
- Power distribution and system architecture
