Project Engineer; Water​/Wastewater

Northern California (Bay Area, Concord, Sonora & Surrounding Areas)

Our client, a well-established and growing heavy civil contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure
, has retained us to identify an experienced Project Engineer to support its expanding portfolio of municipal projects throughout Northern California.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor delivering essential infrastructure projects for public agencies across the Bay Area, Concord, Sonora, and surrounding communities.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of water and wastewater construction projects. This position offers excellent career growth while working on complex public works projects that serve local communities.

• Support the day-to-day management of water and wastewater construction projects from award through closeout.
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, consulting engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and budget management.
• Monitor project progress and help ensure milestones are achieved safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate records and meeting minutes.
• Assist with procurement of materials and equipment.
• Support quality assurance and ensure compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
• Promote a strong safety culture in partnership with field leadership.
• Perform regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical or construction-related issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience supporting heavy civil or municipal construction projects.
• Experience with water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, or related utility infrastructure.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Valid California driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
• Familiarity with California public works and municipal contracting.

Projects are located throughout Northern California
, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Concord, Sonora, and surrounding regions
.

When overnight travel is required, our client provides:

• $70 daily per diem for meals and incidental expenses.
