About the Role
MWH is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support engineering, coordination, and construction of the civil, architectural, and structural packages on a large wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) project in San Francisco, CA. The position reports directly to the Senior PM and is accountable for ensuring all work is performed on budget, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents and engineering standards.
EssentialFunctions
- Provide leadership and support to the Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
- Support Project Managers and the Contracts Team in developing trade and equipment procurement documents to secure and schedule contracts, services, and materials.
- Coordinate with PMs and Superintendents to review and evaluate proposed change orders, assess cost estimates, and manage Time and Materials tickets on executed change orders and force account work.
- Assist PMs in weekly progress updates with trade contractors and the program schedule team.
- Coordinate with Project Engineering to ensure timely processing of submittals, RFIs, and accurate maintenance of As‑Built drawings for assigned trade packages.
- Attend routine meetings and track critical issues requiring resolution to maintain construction progress, driving issues to conclusion through active communication.
- Understand quality requirements for assigned trade packages and coordinate with trade contractors and the Program Quality team to ensure quality activities are planned, executed, and documented per contract requirements.
- Ensure the safe conduct of MWH personnel, maintaining a zero‑accident project, and verify all site personnel meet minimum safety requirements (training, orientations, tools, equipment).
- Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and enforce corrective measures.
- Follow company health and safety guidelines and policies to safeguard personal and fellow employees’ safety.
- Bachelor of Science or higher university degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training).
- 4+ years of experience in project engineering, site superintendent, or trade package management in heavy civil, structural, or building construction.
- Familiarity with preparing contract scoping documents, reading contract drawings and specifications, and basic construction principles and practices.
- Experience in heavy civil, structural, or building construction, particularly water retaining structures, public water/wastewater infrastructure, or similar industries.
- On‑site construction field experience.
- The anticipated budgeted salary for the position is $130,000 – $150,000 a year, based on experience.
