My client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join the growing team in San Francisco. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious construction professional looking to develop their career with a leading general contractor delivering high-quality projects across the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating and delivering construction projects on time and within budget.
- Assist with project scheduling, procurement and subcontractor coordination.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation.
- Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action logs.
- Assist with contract administration and compliance requirements.
- Support quality control and health & safety initiatives on site.
- Contribute to project closeout, including punch lists, warranties and final documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2–5 years' experience working for a General Contractor in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and project delivery.
- Experience managing project documentation, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.
- Experience working on a construction project with a contract value exceeding $100 million is highly preferred.
- Exposure to large-scale commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, life sciences or institutional projects.
- Familiarity with Lean Construction principles and collaborative project delivery methods.
