Job DescriptionThe Superintendent is the primary point of contact on the jobsite and the liaison between the client, building management, internal project teams and subcontractors on field activities. The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all site construction activities, supervising field personnel, and driving the construction schedule to meet deadlines, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities. Additional responsibilities for the Superintendent include the following:
Responsibilities- Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards.
- In partnership with the Safety, Quality and Productivity Department, ensure adherence to all required safety protocols and risk management best practices.
- Ensure all job processes and procedures are implemented and maintained.
- Ensure quality control procedures are followed by personnel and subcontractors.
- Maintain proficiency and a clear understanding of the company's safety programs and ensure adherence with the team.
- Conduct visual observations regularly to ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and production standards.
- Establish and maintain the construction schedule, identifying and solving problems as needed.
- Ensure the highest quality workmanship is provided.
- Order materials and schedule necessary inspections.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
- Lead all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
- Maintain the construction schedule, identify issues before they arise, and think ahead to solve them.
- Schedule inspections as necessary throughout the project.
- Supervise project completion through the final punch list in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site, including the construction office.
- 5-7 years of post-Journeyman level construction experience/engineering in on-site supervision in the construction field.
- Experience and knowledge of different construction markets, project types, and delivery methods.
- Expert knowledge of the permit/code process.
- Ability to manage multiple floors and multiple job sites.
- Ability to run large crews of 30+.
- Ability to run $5M+ projects.
- Ability to hold people accountable and recognize/reward/coach team members in a manner that drives success.
- Ability to mentor field personnel, foremen, and assistant superintendents.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Project and Procore, with basic knowledge and abilities in Microsoft Office Software.
- Highly proficient in plan reading, with the ability to identify incorrect details, missing information, and other issues associated with project drawings and specifications.
- OSHA 30 or 10 hour preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certificate preferred.
