Job Description: The Project Engineer drives complex commercial construction projects to completion as part of a team of talented construction professionals, working to turn clients' visions into reality. The Project Engineer will use technical skills and people skills to collaborate with a wide spectrum of people in the industry while building their portfolio, learning the facets of tenant improvement from industry leaders across multiple fast-paced projects.
The role includes hands-on experience across every part of the construction process, from project estimating through closeout, working in both the office and the field, with the opportunity to manage low-risk projects independently as expertise grows. The Project Engineer will also begin forging relationships within the commercial construction industry, including with clients, architects, construction managers, brokers, property managers, and subcontractors.
Additional responsibilities for the Project Engineer include the following:
Responsibilities:
- Set up and attend job walks.
- Prepare and qualify bids.
- Coordinate building access.
- Prepare meeting minutes and weekly status reports.
- Track and review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, and procurement.
- Complete project start-up and closeout documents.
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the daily management of a variety of construction projects.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of construction experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, project scheduling, Blue Beam, Procore, Plan Grid, and CAD preferred.
- Ability to effectively present information in oral, written, and graphic form.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to read architectural/engineering plans and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of project estimating and scheduling.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to adapt behavior to meet the needs of the project to ensure project success.
Education
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
