Company Overview

Ben Hardy & Company is a San Francisco Bay Area-based general contractor focused on high-quality custom residential projects. We combine 21st-century project management with exceptional craftsmanship, working closely with architects and designers to deliver finely detailed, design-led homes.

We value clear communication, transparency, accountability, and sustainable practices. We believe homes should be healthy and sustainable to live in and to build, and we are committed to honest materials, honest business, and a collaborative approach with clients, designers, and our trade partners.

Construction Project Manager The Opportunity

As a Construction Project Manager, you will own high-end custom residential projects from initial planning through completion. You will be a key member of a small, passionate team where your ideas, judgment, and relationships will directly shape how projects are delivered and how the company grows.

This is a true growth opportunity for someone who loves architecture and design, thrives in a hands-on project leadership role, and wants to balance serious responsibility with a sustainable work-life rhythm.

What You'll Do
  • Lead high-end custom residential projects from pre-construction through closeout, delivering on time, on budget, and to the design intent.
  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets, schedules, and work plans, proactively identifying risks and adjustments needed to keep projects on track.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to confirm constructability and compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Oversee day-to-day project execution, including change orders, documentation, reporting, and guidance to project teams to maintain quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
What Success Looks Like
  • Within 6 to 12 months, you are independently managing multiple high-end custom residential projects in the Bay Area, consistently meeting agreed-upon schedule and budget targets.
  • Clients, architects, and designers describe you as a trusted partner who communicates clearly, solves problems quickly, and protects both the design intent and the project budget.
  • Project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and reports, is accurate, current, and organized, enabling smooth handoffs, billing, and project closeout.
  • You proactively identify constructability issues and risks early, propose practical solutions, and help the team continuously improve processes, quality, and collaboration.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience managing high-end custom residential construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, with strong knowledge of residential building techniques, materials, and methods.
  • Existing relationships with Bay Area architects or a proven track record of building strong, collaborative partnerships with architecture and interior design teams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors in a clear, respectful way.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and Procore, and the ability to analyze budgets, schedules, and project data to drive decisions.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary: $110,000-$180,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • Health care coverage.
  • Full-time position with retirement plan and employer matching.
  • Paid time off, including 10 paid holidays per year.

We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA+ candidates.
