Aboutthe Role
We are makers. We create because we are curious, and we believe that the best way to prove an idea works is to make it real.
As the Creative Director, Experiential & Events
, you will lead the physical manifestation of the Google brand. You are a spatial storyteller who understands that a brand isn’t just something you see—it's something you walk into, touch, and feel.
Reporting to the GCD of Emerging Experiences, you will spearhead the creative vision for Google’s tentpole marketing events (like I/O or CES) and bespoke industry activations. You will bridge the gap between the digital and the physical, creating narrative-driven environments where materiality, set design, and interactive technology converge to create unforgettable experiences.
ResponsibilitiesSpatial Storytelling & Experiential Design
- Lead the Physical: Drive the creative vision for live events, pop-ups, and trade shows. You will oversee spatial design, materiality, and the "guest journey," ensuring the physical build supports the brand narrative.
- Bridge Digital & Physical: You don’t just build sets; you build ecosystems. You will integrate digital products and interactive installations seamlessly into physical spaces, ensuring technology enhances the environment rather than distracting from it.
- Narrative Activations: Move beyond "booth design" to create immersive, narrative-oriented activations that engage attendees on an emotional level.
Strategic Leadership & Client Partnership
- Partner with E&E: Serve as the primary creative partner to Google’s Events & Experiences (E&E) team. You will build deep relationships, helping them translate business goals into spatial realities.
- Command the Room: Lead executive-level presentations for high-stakes events. You must be able to sell a vision for a physical space before it exists, using mood boards, renders, and storytelling to build consensus.
- Execution Excellence: Work closely with production partners to ensure the "rendering-to-reality" gap is zero. You sweat the details, from lighting temperatures to surface textures.
Future-Proofing: Explore how AI and new technologies can be integrated into live events—whether through generative art installations, personalized attendee journeys, or real-time content creation.
About You The essentials:- Experience: 10+ years of creative experience with a strong focus on experiential marketing, event design, or spatial storytelling. At least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Portfolio of "Firsts": A portfolio that demonstrates not just beautiful booth design, but innovative, tech-enabled activations that disrupted the category.
- Spatial Fluency: Deep understanding of 3D design, architectural principles, and fabrication processes. You know how to read a floor plan and direct a 3D artist.
- Tech-Curious: You may not code, but you understand how sensors, screens, and software can be used to make a physical space responsive and magical.
- Resilience: Events are high-pressure and deadline-driven. You must be comfortable making creative decisions in real-time on the ground.
- Impact: Events that generate "shareable" moments and measurable brand lift.
- Innovation: Successfully integrating new technologies (AI, AR, etc.) into physical spaces in ways that feel organic, not forced.
Team Health: Inspiring a multi-disciplinary team of 3D designers, art directors, and creative technologists to do the best work of their careers.
