Overview
We’re seeking a senior Design Director with deep creative brand and tech product experience to serve as a digital-first design leader embedded closely with one of our primary creative vendors. This role is not social-first and not concept-heavy. Instead, it centers on design excellence, motion fluency, brand stewardship, and confident decision-making in a fast-moving, product-led environment.
This person has 10+ years of experience shaping and leading digital design for known brands and/or tech companies, brings a strong point of view to design decisions, and can guide both internal partners and external vendors with clarity and authority. Their portfolio clearly demonstrates this level of leadership and execution.
Core Responsibilities
Lead & Elevate Digital Brand Design
- Own end-to-end digital design execution for product launches, feature releases, and evergreen product moments across web and digital platforms
- Establish and maintain a cohesive visual system across static and motion assets
- Manage layouts, toolkits, templates, and scalable visual systems that support high-volume output
- Apply and interpret seasonal style guides (“visual centers”) and translate them into polished, on-brand assets
- Balance hands-on design work with design leadership and decision-making
Motion & Digital Fluency
- Bring static design systems to life through thoughtful motion, UI animation, and video assets
- Provide motion design direction and feedback to vendors and partners
- Design responsive, high-fidelity digital experiences (landing pages, microsites, interactive modules)
- Collaborate closely with motion designers and guide After Effects workflows when needed
- Operate as a true extension of the creative vendor team, partnering day-to-day
- Provide clear, confident design direction rooted in brand and product strategy
- Stabilize creative quality by offering consistent POV and fast, actionable feedback
- Help onboard agencies into the product’s tools, workflows, and fast, iterative way of working
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Marketing Managers, Product, Copywriters, and Creative Ops
- Serve as a senior creative counterpart who can translate complex or technical briefs into clear design direction
- Work alongside the Creative Lead to maintain and evolve the design system in Figma
- Approach collaboration with a producer mindset—prioritizing, clarifying, and driving work to completion
Experience & Leadership
- 10+ years of experience in design leadership roles within creative brands, tech companies, or top-tier creative agencies
- Proven experience making and owning design decisions for established brands or product ecosystems
- Portfolio demonstrates brand leadership, digital product work, and design systems thinking
- Experience leading and elevating work produced by external vendors or agencies
Design & Technical Expertise
- Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, prototyping, and design systems
- Strong web design experience across desktop and mobile, with an understanding of how designs translate to build
- Exceptional typography, layout, and color theory skills
- Experience with motion design and After Effects, or the ability to direct motion workflows fluently
- Comfortable operating in high-speed, high-volume environments with frequent iteration
- Able to provide fast, high-quality feedback without over-polishing
- Collaborative, pragmatic, and decisive in approach
- Manages multiple priorities with clarity, confidence, and strong presence
Brand & System Thinking
- Strong ability to interpret and apply existing brand foundations
- Experience working within established systems rather than reinventing brands
- Focused on scalable, business-as-usual creative rather than big campaign concepts
- Understands how design supports product storytelling and business goals
