The University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry, Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (at the ranks of Assistant or Associate Professor) to support its teaching programs in endodontics and to see patients in Faculty Practice. The appointment will be in the Department’s Division of Endodontics.
Primary duties will include pre-doctoral, pre-clinical and clinical instructions, including lectures and seminar activities covering all areas of endodontics including diagnosis, treatment planning and endodontic procedures. Position also includes opportunities for faculty practice.
Required Qualifications:
- DDS/DMD degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation recognized program.
- Internationally trained dentists are eligible for consideration if they have proof of completion of an endodontic residency and letter from their program director.
- Both U.S. and international trained dentists must have a current or be eligible for dental licensure or a special permit in the State of California.
- Strong emotional intelligence and relationship orientation; ability to partner, influence others, and create a highly collaborative culture which enables effective communication and knowledge sharing, but also ownership and accountability for results.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality is critical.
Preferred Qualifications:
- The preferred candidate is a graduate of a Commission on Dental Accreditation recognized 2-year endodontics residency program and eligible for certification by the American Board of Endodontics.
- At least 2 years of experience as a licensed practicing endodontic provider.
- Previous predoctoral and/or postgraduate endodontic teaching experience is preferred, from program evaluation and curriculum development to student assessment.
- Experience with the continuum of dental education.
Academic rank and salary level will be based on the successful applicant’s experience. The position is open until filled. Due to the large number of applications, only potential candidates selected for an interview will receive return correspondence.
The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,900-$189,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
