450 Architects is an award-winning design studio founded in 1996 and specializes in residential, educational, and civic architecture with an ethos of sustainable design and community engagement.

Open Position

450 Architects has an immediate opening for a Project Architect with 10 years’ experience in public library and educational facilities. The candidate must be a licensed California Architect with either USGBC LEED accreditation or Passive House Designer certification. Resident of Marin County, CA is highly desired.

Job Responsibilities

Refining public client protocols; facilitating community engagement with clients, consultants, and community stakeholders; management of all phases of public client architectural design, bid and construction administration; coordination of staff and budgets; and coordination with 450 Architect’s Principals, clients, consultants and AHJ’s. A strong referral network is a plus.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar architectural position with a portfolio of public & private projects (designed and/or under construction).
  • Ability to research and apply building codes and zoning ordinances. The candidate must be able to interpret regulations into architectural designs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to lead meetings and present designs, concepts, and problem solutions effectively.
  • Well-developed and demonstrated problem solving abilities.
  • Architectural design, management and graphic skills necessary for all phases of the project from pre-design through close-out.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, design and evaluation of building assemblies, systems and detailing.
  • Must be well versed in 2025 California Building Codes & knowledge of DSA review, approval and close-out procedures.
