Role Overview
At Gensler, we help companies innovate by designing spaces, services, and environments that foster healthier, more effective workplaces. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the execution of a variety of corporate interiors projects, manage all phases of project delivery, and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities- Act as lead design manager for a variety of project types.
- Generate new client relationships and lead projects and marketing opportunities with existing clients, working closely with our Marketing department on business development, lead generation, and proposal writing.
- Drive project delivery during all phases of the project.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements.
- Review internal project accounting documents and process draft project billing.
- Participate in firm marketing, proposal writing, and project interviews.
- Manage mid‑size to large project teams, assign and monitor completion of tasks.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Coordinate and prepare project documentation, providing quality assurance via review of project documentation.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Interior Design or Architecture.
- 10+ years of Design Management experience in an Architecture firm, working on corporate interior projects.
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of interior design/architectural projects.
- Ability to provide excellent client service and assure project profitability.
- Desire to mentor junior staff.
- Strong programming and space planning skills.
- High level of design competence and expertise in FF&E.
- Knowledge of state and local building codes including accessibility.
- Sustainable design experience, with a preference for hands‑on LEED participation and accreditation.
- Computer savvy with moderate or better skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project), AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up;
Photoshop skills are a benefit.
Base salary estimated between $120,000 and $160,000, plus bonuses and benefits contingent on relevant experience.
