We provide a unique opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary office, connecting our architects and engineers from all over the world. We are looking for a Senior Architect who shares our interest and expertise in civic, infrastructure, and transit projects. As a senior contributor on our professional Civic Architecture team, you will work collaboratively with Stantec senior leadership to assist clients through the planning and creation of fiscally responsible, highly sustainable, award-winning designs.
You will cultivate client relationships and provide strategic input to Stantec leadership.
Your experience ensures that you are quite familiar with construction plans, specifications, estimates, and building codes. You will lead and coordinate a multi-disciplined team of planners, architects, and engineers focused on creating great design solutions for our civic clients. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, coordinating building information models, preparing a variety of contract deliverables throughout the project, while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the success of the project.
Your key responsibilities include managing complex tasks on multiple, varying scale, highly complex projects, effectively leading and participating to win work in interviews for potential projects, planning, organizing, and directing the work throughout the life of the project, leading the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent, negotiating and developing project agreements alongside Stantec leadership, developing and managing project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance, cultivating client relationships and providing strategic input to Stantec leadership, mentoring multi-discipline staff and motivating project teams, leading project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors, managing and tracking change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule, working with Stantec Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel, and directing client invoicing and effectively managing collections.
Your capabilities and credentials include extensive project experience supporting the ability to win work during proposal response, proven relationships with Northern California area, state, county and/or municipal agencies, capable of simultaneously supporting multiple projects, excellent understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards, proactively taking appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance, effectively managing multiple deadlines and priorities, team player with the client, entire project team and contractor, excellent negotiator and communicator, understanding of project software:
Revit, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc., understanding of building architectural and engineering system concepts, experience utilizing design/build project delivery and LEAN design practices preferred, knowledge and understanding of federal, local agency, and other required standards and requirements, and capable of quickly coming up with design alternatives and solutions.
Education and experience include minimum 15 years of experience, graduate of an accredited architectural school with professional experience in an architecture office, must be licensed in California or attainable within one year, LEED AP or LEED project experience preferred.
