About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Interior Designer to serve as a trusted creative leader within a premier luxury residential design firm. This individual will bring deep expertise, refined aesthetic judgment, and the project leadership skills necessary to guide complex, multi-phase residential projects from initial concept through final installation.

This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing exceptional design work with client leadership, team mentorship, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and drive all phases of complex, high-end residential projects from concept through installation
  • Serve as the primary design lead and client relationship owner across multiple simultaneous projects
  • Develop creative concepts and translate them into beautifully executed design solutions
  • Ensure design intent is maintained throughout every stage of the project lifecycle
Client & Project Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and vendors
  • Represent the firm with professionalism, confidence, and excellent communication skills
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Lead project meetings and communicate design decisions with clarity and authority
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions
  • Mentor and support junior designers and design associates
  • Delegate work effectively while maintaining accountability for project outcomes
  • Foster collaboration and alignment across project teams
  • Ensure clear internal communication throughout all phases of each project
  • Create and manage project budgets from initial estimate through project completion
  • Forecast monthly project hours and monitor actual performance against budget
  • Proactively communicate budget variances and project updates to leadership
  • Maintain complete and accurate project records and documentation
Technical Design Execution
  • Prepare and oversee:
  • Specifications
  • Shop drawings
  • Design presentations
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and craftspeople to ensure successful execution
  • Maintain organized project documentation within Studio Designer and firm systems
Industry Engagement
  • Stay current on luxury residential design trends, materials, furnishings, and trade resources
  • Maintain strong relationships within the design community
  • Contribute to project proposals and project scoping efforts
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, or related field
  • 8+ years of high-end residential interior design experience
  • Significant experience managing renovation, construction, and ground-up residential projects
  • Expert proficiency in:
  • AutoCAD
  • Sketch Up
  • Strong hand sketching, rendering, and visualization abilities preferred
  • Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team mentorship experience
  • Refined design aesthetic and portfolio demonstrating luxury residential work
  • Deep knowledge of Bay Area trade resources, custom furnishings, materials, antiques, and vendor relationships preferred
