Overview
The West Region Cross Sector Lead provides strategic, operational, and people leadership for the Urban Design, Planning and Landscape Architecture (UDPLA) Cross Sector. In this role you will promote design excellence, support studios, develop client relationships, and drive regional growth.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with the UDPLA Cross Sector Director to build operational plans and processes that elevate the practice.
- Coordinate area operations, monitor and improve design and technical competencies of UDPLA staff.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with UDPLA staff and internal partners across the HDR matrix.
- Develop client relationships and engage in business development and marketing to win work.
- Support studio leaders in managing operations, design production, marketing, and staff development.
- Engage in recruiting, mentoring, and development of UDPLA staff.
- Advocate and lead advancement of the practice through key initiatives.
- Demonstrate design excellence and quality project delivery through continued learning.
- Participate in relevant design, industry, and community activities that enhance HDR’s brand.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Active participation in professional and industry associations.
- Licensed professional (AICP for urban designers/planners; PLA for landscape architects).
- Passion for collaboration and creating connections within the matrix organization.
- Proven ability to lead projects and teams.
- Broad realm influence and effective leadership skills.
- Experience mentoring professionals to grow in design, implementation, and client management.
- Experience and passion for sustainable and/or regenerative design.
- Strong client relationship development, including pursuit strategy and proposal content.
- Excellent communication, time management, graphic, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel for project work and internal collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience.
- Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
- Cooperative work with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.

Seattle, WA: $192,108—$225,000;
Los Angeles: $184,104—$225,000;
San Francisco: $208,117—$225,000.
