Assistant Vice President, Transportation Architect
Location:
San Francisco or Los Angeles, CA.
We are hiring an Assistant Vice President, Transportation Architect to work with our California Transportation Facilities Team to deliver transit architecture projects.
Responsibilities- Deliver and support small, mid-size, large-scale and mega transit architecture projects.
- Develop and coordinate drawings/graphics, schedules, specifications and other contract documents.
- Proficiently work with AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketch Up and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of concept, schematic design, design development and construction documents.
- Provide quality control reviews and quality assurance.
- Develop approaches to handle and complete complex and demanding assignments, requiring independent application of specialized skills and coordination with other technical disciplines.
- Manage and direct project architectural group staff and assist in confirming project budgets are maintained and financial goals achieved.
- Monitor and mentor junior staff in their professional development.
- Ensure technical quality and coordination of architectural work in conformance with the Project Implementation Plan/Project Quality Control Plan (PIP/PQCP).
- Assist with business development and support project presentations to clients, public and private stakeholders, and public agencies.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
- 10+ years of post‑education experience in the discipline.
- Professional licensure/certification in California.
- Proficiency with architectural principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to project work‑related issues.
- Experience with building planning, drawing standards, design, and program/construction management; including restoration and new design projects.
- Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving architectural principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to regulations.
- Transit project experience in stations or maintenance facilities for rail and buses.
- Knowledge of building code, zoning, planning regulations and other standards (including accessibility and Cal Green).
- Technical writing, office automation, design software proficiency (AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketch Up, Microsoft Office), math principles, graphics, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/agricultural and harassment policies.
- Based in San Francisco.
- 10+ years of applicable experience post‑licensure.
- Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Familiarity with NFPA 130.
- LEED AP (Accredited Professional).
- Experience in writing and coordinating specifications; familiarity with Spec Link and/or Master Spec.
- Familiarity with Micro Station.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Twinmotion, and/or Enscape.

CompensationExpected salary (all locations): $170,000 – $213,000.
