Immediate Need: We are currently looking for immediate help producing permit sets for around small TI projects and a Core & Shell project in San Francisco.
About UsSPACE / CRAFT is a small and growing San Francisco-based architectural design firm with diverse projects, specializing in custom residential, commercial Tenant Improvement (TI), and Core & Shell projects. We are seeking a passionate and meticulously detail-oriented Senior Architect / Project Architect to join our growing team and help drive our projects through the documentation and permitting phases.
The RoleIn this role, you will be instrumental in the technical execution of our designs, ensuring that drawing sets are airtight and ready for city approval. You will take ownership of the redlining and permitting processes across a diverse portfolio, from interior renovation projects, multi-floor residential expansions, and ADUs to commercial TI and Core & Shell projects. We are looking for someone who brings positive energy, leaves their ego at the door, and values excellent workmanship and team spirit.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the production, coordination, and meticulous redlining of construction documents & permit documents.
- Navigate and manage the complete permitting process for Residential, Commercial TI, and Core & Shell projects.
- Proactively dive into architectural detailing and product research, never shying away from engaging with vendors or hunting down technical specifications.
- Coordinate seamlessly with structural and civil engineers, MEP consultants, and general contractors.
- Engage directly with city agencies (including the SF Department of Building Inspection) to resolve plan check comments and secure approvals.
- Ensure all project documentation meets strict building code standards and design intent.
- B.ARCH or M.ARCH degree.
- 5+ years of professional architectural experience, with a strong focus on project execution and technical detailing.
- MUST be local with extensive, hands-on San Francisco & Bay Area permitting experience.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Rhino or Sketch Up preferred.
- Exceptional redlining skills and a deeply detail-oriented mindset.
- Strong teamwork skills, positive energy, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- A true passion for the technical side of architecture and seeing a design through to built reality.
- Licensed Architect in California (or currently on the path to licensure) is preferred.
