Your RoleGensler's San Francisco and Seattle offices are seeking a Technical Designer with a passion for Aviation to join our Cities Studio. As a Gensler Technical Designer, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. - Work collaboratively on large progressive design-build aviation teams
- Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, civil consultants etc
- Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
- Responsible for coordination with Project Leads to directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery
- Work closely with project management to execute plans for all segments within large and complex projects
- Ability to work independently on a wide range of large, complex and/or highly specialized projects
- Demonstrates and shares expertise over advanced techniques, concepts, and methods related to technical design
- Works on critical projects with firmwide impact
- Possesses advanced analytical skills in addition to unique aviation knowledge and expertise
- Creates networks and may serve as external spokesperson in the aviation practice area
- Leads interaction with clients
- Acts independently and receives oversight from managerial staff in the form of broad objectives
- Regularly exercises creativity and makes independent decisions
- Provides technical direction to less experienced team members
- Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
- Maintain project manual and specifications
- Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during construction
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
- 6+ years of experience, aviation project experience preferred
- Must be passionate about Aviation projects
- Must have an open and collaborative approach to problem solving and a willingness to listen and learn from others
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Sketch Up, 3dMax, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office
- Must have a working fluency in Revit, including detailing and documentation
- Working on large teams with multiple models/workflows
- Working knowledge of local building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
- Experience working on large project teams, interest in alternative delivery methods
- Ability to own the entirety of an issue from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required. Portfolios should include at least 1 project with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwell and /or Net Zero Building certification.
Bay Area:
The base salary will be estimated between $85,000 - $105,000, plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
Seattle:
The base salary will be estimated between $80,000 - $95,000, plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
