Project Manager IV, Streetscape – Project Delivery – San Francisco Public Works

San Francisco Public Works Project Delivery Division is seeking a Project Manager IV for the Project Management Bureau. This Project Manager IV will be responsible for managing an estimated budget of $300 million dollar for multiple streetscape projects. These projects aim to activate and enliven corridors around San Francisco by implementing streetscape improvements, pedestrian safety improvements, and beautification. The teams will perform a wide range of infrastructure upgrades such as widening sidewalks, installing pedestrian bulb-outs, building raised crosswalks, reconstructing roadways, adding new pedestrian and street lighting, enhancing landscape features, improving traffic signals and crossings, upgrading sewer and utility systems, creating new bike lanes, and constructing loading and bus islands, along with other decorative and functional streetscape elements.

These improvements are essential to support the safe, accessible, and comfortable movement of pedestrians and drivers throughout San Francisco.

Under administrative direction, this role plans, organizes, directs and controls all parts of highly complex engineering/architectural projects from concept through design and construction to close-out of the project contract.

IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Your duties as Project Manager IV may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assembling design and construction management team
  • Executing solicitations for professional services and construction contract
  • Developing project plan and selecting project delivery method
  • Monitoring the project scope, budget, funding, cost and schedule
  • Overseeing activities in planning phase and completion of conceptual design
  • Managing the design phase including participation in design coordination meetings
  • Facilitating regulatory approval processes and resolution of issues in support of the project objectives
  • Reviewing change orders
  • Coordinating work of a multi-disciplinary technical staff across organizational boundaries
  • Working extensively with the public, private contractors, special interest groups, governmental funding/regulatory agencies, and City and County departments
  • Serving as primary contact for all parties and stakeholders involved in the project
  • Supervision of other Project Managers and technical staff
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering or planning; and four (4) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience; and four (4) additional years of project coordination experience among which two (2) years in major architectural, engineering or construction projects OR
  • A Bachelor's Degree in another field; and six (6) years of responsible architectural, engineering or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project; and four (4) additional years of project coordination experience among which two (2) years in major architectural, engineering or construction projects OR
  • Eight (8) years of architectural, engineering, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project; and four (4) additional years of project coordination experience among which two (2) years in major architectural, engineering or construction projects OR
  • California registration as professional engineer or architect; and four (4) additional years of project coordination experience among which two (2) years in major architectural, engineering or construction projects
  • Note: One (1) year of full-time employment is considered equivalent to Two Thousand (2,000) hours. Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
