Job Description & How to Apply Below

Moment X is a creative architecture and interiors studio based in San Francisco. We bet on curiosity over certainty, and delight over luxury
. We listen before we draw - to the land, ecology, history, and people within and around a place. We believe meaningful environments emerge not from excess, but from attention to light, material, climate, memory, and the rhythms of everyday life.

We are also building a practice, not just producing projects. As the studio grows, we want the people who join us to help shape its culture, standards, design philosophy, and future direction. We value openness, rigor, generosity, curiosity, initiative, and the willingness to question assumptions. We want Moment X to be a place where people care deeply about the work, learn from one another, and build something meaningful together.

We are looking for an Experienced Interior Designer to take a leading role in the interior design of our projects—from spatial planning and material development to detailing, FF&E, construction, and installation.

The ideal candidate has strong design judgment, substantial experience with residential and commercial interiors, and a deep understanding of materials, furniture, lighting, and detailing. You will work closely with the Principal and architectural team to develop a cohesive interior direction and carry projects from concept through completion.

This role is particularly suited to someone who wants to have a meaningful voice within a growing studio. Beyond individual projects, you will have the opportunity to help shape how we approach interiors, develop our design standards and resources, mentor younger designers, and contribute to the culture of the practice as it evolves.

Responsibilities
  • Lead interior design across multiple projects from concept through construction and installation
  • Develop spatial concepts, material palettes, finishes, color strategies, lighting concepts, and interior detailing
  • Lead FF&E research, sourcing, selection, specification, and procurement coordination
  • Source furniture, lighting, fixtures, finishes, textiles, art, and accessories from local and international markets
  • Develop and coordinate interior drawing sets, including plans, elevations, millwork, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, and construction details
  • Design and detail custom millwork, cabinetry, built-ins, and other interior elements
  • Work closely with the architectural team so that architecture and interiors are conceived as an integrated whole
  • Prepare and lead client presentations and communicate design ideas clearly
  • Guide and mentor other team members contributing to interior design
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, fabricators, craftspeople, vendors, and suppliers
  • Review samples, mockups, shop drawings, and submittals
  • Participate actively in construction administration, site visits, field coordination, and installation
  • Carry design intent through construction with a high level of care and rigor
  • Help develop the studio’s interior design language, standards, material library, vendor relationships, and design resources
  • Contribute actively to the evolving culture, working methods, and design direction of Moment X
Qualifications
  • Approximately 5+ years of professional interior design experience
, with demonstrated ability to independently lead significant portions of a project
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated design sensibility and completed built work
  • Significant experience with high-end residential and commercial interiors.
  • Proven ability to carry projects from early concept through documentation, construction, and installation
  • Strong understanding of materials, millwork, furniture, lighting, finishes, assemblies, and detailing
  • Strong knowledge of FF&E sourcing and specification
, including familiarity with local and international designers, makers, vendors, and manufacturers
  • Ability to move comfortably between conceptual thinking and technical resolution
  • Good understanding of construction and interior documentation
  • Experience collaborating closely with architects and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Organized, proactive, collaborative, and…
